Secret Subject Swap – Santa Claus

My subject is Santa Claus  It was submitted by  http://macdonaldsplayland.blogspot.com/  Here goes:

Well, what could I possibly write about Santa Claus…hmmm. Well, first I found out Santa did NOT exist when I was nine years old, I believe. A misguided friend told me and look back on it now and know she did it to have someone else just as sad as she was. She didn’t have parents that were as dedicated to her as mine were, and I hope her life has turned around for her. Now as a parent, it breaks my  heart that she had to do that to feel better about herself.

I think my parents showed me “Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus” to help me believe in the Christmas spirit. I understood the message and moved on with my life as I grew.

Now…as a parent I totally get it. Before my son was just too young to really understand the whole “Santa Claus”, but now he gets it and is so thrilled. He helped me decorate and loves looking at the Christmas cards we get in the mail.

The best part is…I AM SANTA now. YES…it’s not just about believe in Santa, I AM SANTA. I felt so thankful and happy that I could put little gifts in his stocking and wrap up his gifts before hiding them away. I can’t wait to see his face when he see that Santa has eaten all the cookies and drank the milk. I can’t wait to hear his joy as he looks at the present Santa left for him.

Except for a few items arriving in the mail…the gifts are all wrapped and organized into bags ready for hauling to everyone’s homes. I can’t wait to see their reactions.

His belief in Santa, his joy and innocence is what makes me want to teach him that Santa isn’t just pretend or really your parents. I want him to know that Santa exists in every person. When we give and enjoy giving Santa lives. When we see the perfect gift for someone and get joy out of buying it and wrapping it up, Santa lives. When we get giddy and excited as they open their gift, Santa lives. When you give money to a charity, Santa lives. When you buy a toy for a child who may not get a present, Santa lives. When you donate food to those in need, Santa lives.

I hope that he holds onto that belief of Santa in everyone no matter how old he gets.

  1. Awww this is so sweet! I love the excitement on a child’s face when they wake up Christmas morning! Your attitude here is great–that you are now the Santa! I’m also a bit—-no, A LOT—envious at how you already have it all so organized. Great post!

  2. It’s awesome to be on the other end of the Santa world. My girls get so excited for the holiday. And, there’s nothing in the world that can replicate the sheer joy in their faces and their excitement on the morning after Santa has arrived. Enjoy every precious second!

  3. I believe in Santa…in a sense. Sort of like you are saying. And I have a slight crush on him. I keep Santa decorations out year round. And Christmas Angels. And my house is decorated year round in green and reds (with some orange). I swear I don’t have a problem.

You are doing such a great job with Dino! Santa is in everyone who has the Christmas spirit. I believe!
