I decided to start a book review linky…there are two great ones that I join up with (see buttons below).  I hope you’ll link up your posts about book reviews below.

Now onto what I have finished reading…

Goodreads Summary: The Miracle Cure

A stunning, controversial, nonstop thriller that careens through the inner halls of high-stakes medical research, the upper echelons of Washington politics, and the steamy streets of Bangkok, on the trail of a dangerous and deadly cure for AIDS.

REVIEW: 5 STARS

I was so wrong in my guess of who the murderer was, WOW! Well played Harlan Coben, well played.

At least with Cassandra I went from wanting her dead to glad she got what she deserved. She never did see that coming…karma b*tch.

I was right about Michael’s situation and what was REALLY happening to him. How terrible and evil to make him go through all that…so f*cked up. So thrilled there were some happy endings.

Even though he opens up with this being his first book, I can see his writing style. It was both annoying how he kept switching from POVs, and ingenious to keep us on our toes.

Goodreads Summary: Where’d You Go Bernadette

Bernadette Fox is notorious. To her Microsoft-guru husband, she’s a fearlessly opinionated partner; to fellow private-school mothers in Seattle, she’s a disgrace; to design mavens, she’s a revolutionary architect, and to 15-year-old Bee, she is a best friend and, simply, Mom.

Then Bernadette disappears. It began when Bee aced her report card and claimed her promised reward: a family trip to Antarctica. But Bernadette’s intensifying allergy to Seattle—and people in general—has made her so agoraphobic that a virtual assistant in India now runs her most basic errands. A trip to the end of the earth is problematic.

To find her mother, Bee compiles email messages, official documents, secret correspondence—creating a compulsively readable and touching novel about misplaced genius and a mother and daughter’s role in an absurd world.

REVIEW: 5 STARS

Another book where I HATE the husband…I wanted to jump in and junk punch him on SEVERAL occasions…what a colossal jerk.

I like the style of letters, emails, and feedback from Bee. Bernadette is a quirky lady and pretty cool. The other mothers, whom she refers to as gnats, are the crazy ones.The ‘something’ that happened to her back in LA was worse than I could have imagined…it would have destroyed me to. WOW…no wonder she’s the way she is, but I also think she’s pretty cool…and smart.

Of course Bee knew what to do. What did she do???? Well, you’ll have to read to find out…TOTALLY WORTH IT…A GREAT READ.

 ~~~NOW I’M READING~~~
Goodreads Summary: Vanishing Acts
Delia Hopkins has led a charmed life. Raised in rural New Hampshire by her widowed father, Andrew, she now has a young daughter, a handsome fiance, and her own search-and-rescue bloodhound, which she uses to find missing persons. But as Delia plans her wedding, she is plagued by flashbacks of a life she can’t recall. And then a policeman knocks on her door, revealing a secret that changes the world as she knows it.” In shock and confusion, Delia must sift through the truth – even when it jeopardizes her life and the lives of those she loves. What happens when you learn you are not who you thought you were? When the people you’ve loved and trusted suddenly change before your eyes? When getting your deepest wish means giving up what you’ve always taken for granted? Vanishing Acts explores how life – as we know it – might not turn out the way we imagined; how doing the right thing could mean doing the wrong thing; how the memory we thought had vanished could return as a threat.(less)
    • thanks for linking up…so glad you are able to find more time…I’m spoiled listening to books on tape while commuting, it will be harder when I’m this summer…but I’m determined. I’ve never read Gatsby…you go!
  4. Thanks so much for hosting this link up! I loved The Goldfinch and want to share it with others. I’m using your site to find summer reading books. I teach high school English and don’t really have time to read for enjoyment until summer. Have a great weekend.
