Goodreads Summary: Silver Girl

Meredith Martin Delinn just lost everything: her friends, her homes, her social standing – because her husband Freddy cheated rich investors out of billions of dollars.

Desperate and facing homelessness, Meredith receives a call from her old best friend, Constance Flute. Connie’s had recent worries of her own, and the two depart for a summer on Nantucket in an attempt to heal. But the island can’t offer complete escape, and they’re plagued by new and old troubles alike. When Connie’s brother Toby – Meredith’s high school boyfriend – arrives, Meredith must reconcile the differences between the life she is leading and the life she could have had.

Set against the backdrop of a Nantucket summer, Elin Hilderbrand delivers a suspenseful story of the power of friendship, the pull of love, and the beauty of forgiveness

Review: 5 Stars

I am sobbing so hard I can’t breathe. What a great read, what a great book.

At first I couldn’t stand Meredith, but then I realized she was raised to be the good girl, the good wife who did what was expected of her, no questions asked.

Freddy conned her from the beginning, I have no doubt about it. He knew she would be the perfect and obedient wife, she would do what he wanted. I think he wanted her to go to jail, he is that sick.

What happens? Will Meredith get her life back? Will she get revenge on her hubby? Will she find love? Will Freddy speak up about what really happened.

Goodreads Summary: Tempting Fate

Gabby and Elliott have been happily married for eighteen years. They have two teenaged daughters. They have built a life together. Forty-three year old Gabby is the last person to have an affair. She can’t relate to the way her friends desperately try to cling to the beauty and allure of their younger years…And yet, she too knows her youth is quickly slipping away. She could never imagine how good it would feel to have a handsome younger man show interest in her—until the night it happens. Matt makes Gabby feel sparkling, fascinating, alive—something she hasn’t felt in years. What begins as a long-distance friendship soon develops into an emotional affair as Gabby discovers her limits and boundaries are not where she expects them to be. Intoxicated, Gabby has no choice but to step ever deeper into the allure of attraction and attention, never foreseeing the life-changing consequences that lie ahead. If she makes one wrong move she could lose everything—and find out what really matters most. A heartfelt and complex story, Tempting Fate, will have readers gripped until they reach the very last page, and thinking about the characters long after they put the book down

I want to jump in this book and slap the shit out of Gabby. Why? Why are you risking it all? She has a near miss and yet she can’t stop thinking about Matt. I pray she makes the right decision…Loving this book.

  1. Trust me felt the same way as you with Tempting Fate and got to admit I still don’t get why she was so easily willing to lose it all, but still a great read and well worth continuing to the end 🙂

    • OMG…I can’t breathe, I can’t believe the major thing just happened. How could she do that? Did she not think about her husband? Her kids? I am praying he can forgive…but don’t know how.

  2. So of everything you’ve been reading, which do you think would be my best choice for a book group?? It’s a fairly intellectual group who likes books that are smart and though provoking… it’ll be my time to choose pretty soon:) I imagine you’ve got some favorites?

    • I’m almost done with Tempting Fate, I want to slap Gabby so hard, did she really think she could do what she wanted and everyone would be fine???? Oh silver Girl was such a great read.

  3. Reading your comments about Tempting Fate is making me think it is an emotionally gripping book! Now I really want to read it! We can’t always know why people make the decisions they do. Sometimes it seems like the right choice for them in the moment. In my old age I’m learning to be less critical of people and try to find more compassion.

    • I finished it and wow! What a situation and how it all comes to a head…I still don’t agree with what she did, but she was hurt deeply by her hubby. Though how deeply she hurt her kids with the affair…well…you wish for something and you just may get…in a very different way.

Would love to read your thoughts
