I was recently asked how I read book so darn fast. It’s all due to my commuting to work. I spend about an hour in the car each way and listen to books on tape instead of music or news. It’s the only way to pass the time and keep the commute from getting boring and annoying. During the summer and my breaks when Dino is home with me, I guarantee I won’t read as much.
Goodreads Summary: Home Again
At the center of Home Again is Madelaine – a brilliant cardiologist, a loving mother, a tender friend, and a woman full of self-doubt. It is also the story of her confused and angry daughter, Lina, and of the two very different men Madelaine loves: Francis, a priest searching for his faith, and Angel, a talented but cynical man with a broken heart. When tragedy suddenly brings them all together, they must learn to forgive the betrayals of the past and find the courage to love again.
Review: 5 Stars
Some reviews said this was too predictable, of course it is…BUT the book is about the journey NOT the ending.
It was obvious one of two things would happen…and it did happen. Madeline and Angelo grew up with the shittiest parents on earth…it’s amazing they survived. No wonder they turned out to be who they were.
Highlight for spoilers ((( I don’t blame Angelo for being who he was, it was the only way he knew how. Poor Franciso, he wanted to help and he did, I sobbed for the life he thought he wanted…but in the end he created a family.
Lina finally got what she wanted and is seeing herself for the strong woman she is!
At times I wish Madeline would have told Lina sooner about her dad, but then Angelo would not have been ready for that.
Again, yes it was a predictable ending, but what a journey.)))

Goodreads Summary: Beautiful Lies
What if your family was a lie?
What if your name was a lie?
What if your whole life was just a pack of Beautiful Lies?
If Ridley Jones had slept ten minutes later or had taken the subway instead of waiting for a cab, she would still be living the lie she used to call her perfect life. Instead, she’s in the wrong place at the right time to unleash a chain of events that begins with a mysterious package on her doorstep. A package that informs her that her entire world is just an illusion. Forced to question everything she knows about herself, Ridley wanders into dark territory, where everyone is hiding something.
Sexy and fast-paced, Beautiful Lies is a true literary thriller featuring one of the freshest new voices in years. Lisa Unger takes us on a breathtaking ride in which every choice Ridley makes creates a whirlwind of consequences that are impossible to imagine.
After reading her amazing book In the Blood, I had to read more of her books. What a flipping beginning…seriously…WOW! Now we get to slowly read how we end up there. Then the book starts and we see a situation no one would ever want to be faced with…I don’t know who to f&cking trust.
