Just Finished Reading…

Hope everyone had a wonderful Hanukkah and/or Christmas and New Years. Our Christmas and New Years was bittersweet. Dino got sick Christmas Eve and our plans had to change. Instead of going out we stayed in. Then I got sick the day after Christmas.

Christmas Eve was always time with my sister, BIL, and my parents. This year was different. My sister and her hubby relocated to Texas, they spent Christmas in their new home. They came back to finish packing what they could and officially leave on New Year’s Eve. I wish them lots of luck and happiness, but knowing they are so far away saddens me deeply.

It was our first Christmas without our sweet Balboa, it was devastating putting up his ornaments and knowing his stocking would not be filled.

I was four books shy of meeting my goal of 60 books in 2014. I WILL reach that goal this year.

Goodreads Summary: They’re Watching Patrick Davis is a man with troubles. First his Hollywood dreams crumble and then his storybook marriage hits a snag. Now, DVDs start being delivered to his house–DVDs which show that someone is watching him and his wife, that the two of them are being stalked and recorded by cameras hidden in their house. Then the e-mails start, and someone offers to fix everything, to take the mess his life has become and make it all right. Patrick figures it’s the offer of a lifetime.

But Patrick couldn’t be more wrong. With every step he falls deeper into a web of intrigue that threatens everything he values in this world. Before he knows it, he’s in and in deep–and his only escape is to outwit and outplay his unseen opponents at their own game.

Review: 4 Stars It was great that I thought it would take one direction, then it moved in another, really kept me guessing. I was not expecting certain people to die…that was beyond heartbreaking…who died? Sorry can’t tell you that.

I never expected THAT person to be involved.

I also wonder if Patrick had listed to his wife and just did nothing, if they would have found a different fall guy???? Not sure what we would do in this situation…scary how the government and groups can be controlled.

If you like conspiracy theories, you would like this.

Goodreads Summary: The Tenth Circle

Fourteen-year-old Trixie Stone is in love for the first time. She’s also the light of her father, Daniel’s life — a straight-A student; a pretty, popular freshman in high school; a girl who’s always seen her father as a hero. That is, until her world is turned upside down with a single act of violence. Suddenly everything Trixie has believed about her family — and herself — seems to be a lie. Could the boyfriend who once made Trixie wild with happiness have been the one to end her childhood forever? She says that he is, and that is all it takes to make Daniel, a seemingly mild-mannered comic book artist with a secret tumultuous past he has hidden even from his family, venture to hell and back to protect his daughter.

With The Tenth Circle, Jodi Picoult offers her most powerful chronicle yet as she explores the unbreakable bond between parent and child, and questions whether you can reinvent yourself in the course of a lifetime — or if your mistakes are carried forever.

This is going to be crazy and I’m a worried that I am reading this. The beginning refers to Dante’s Nine Circles of Hell…hence the title The Tenth Circle…I’m scared.

Just Finished Reading… — 6 Comments

  1. Aww, so sorry about Dino being sick for Christmas. Lily had strep throat a few days before and I had the flu this past week, so we too have had some illness to deal with here. Also, have no doubt though that you will reach your reading goal next year. I have just finished reading my first book for 2015 and am on my way to my second soon, too 😉

  2. I’m hearing about a LOT of people who had illness in their homes/lives this Christmas. It always seems to hit at the most inconvenient times, ruining fun plans:( Hope everyone is better now! I cried when my sister moved away — thankful for SKYPE, but it isn’t the same as being able to “hang out” together. I get it.

  3. So sorry to hear that you and your family were sick. A lot of people I know are sick right now. I loved having some time to read during the time off and I am reading a book by the Pioneer Woman (on how she and her hubby met, etc). Hope you have a wonderful and healthy new year!

  4. Awww, I’m so sorry to hear about all the difficulty you guys had over Christmas and New Year’s. You’ve definitely had a lot of losses over the last several months. Though I’m pretty darn impressed with the fact that you read nearly 60 books over the last year. I bet you will crush that goal in 2015!

  5. I’m sorry to hear that you and Dino were under-the-weather for the holidays. I feel like so many people have been sick lately, my poor daughter was sick for what felt like a month. I hope all is well now.
I’m also sorry that your sister moved away, I know how hard that can be. Well, I’m the sister who left Texas, so my family is waiting for my return…. sigh.
Wishing you all the best this year and always!

  6. I hope that everyone is feeling better! We all had the crud over the holidays, too. I read the Tenth Circle and loved it! (I love all of Jodi Piccoult’s books!). I’m reading LIar, Temptress, Soldier, Spy now…not too far in, but pretty good!

Would love to read your thoughts
