Goodreads Summary: Too Close To Home Promise Falls isn’t the kind of community where a family is shot to death in their own home. But that is exactly what happened to the Langleys one sweltering summer night, and no one in this small upstate New York town is more shocked than their next-door neighbors, Jim and Ellen Cutter. They visited for the occasional barbecue, and their son, Derek, was friends with the Langleys’ boy, Adam; but how well did they really know their neighbors?
That’s the question Jim Cutter is asking, and the answers he’s getting aren’t reassuring. Albert Langley was a successful, well-respected criminal lawyer, but was he so good at getting criminals off that he was the victim of revenge – a debt his innocent family also paid in blood? From the town’s criminally corrupt mayor to the tragic suicide of a talented student a decade before, Promise Falls has more than its share of secrets. And Jim Cutter, failed artist turned landscaper, need look no further than his own home and his wife Ellen’s past to know that things aren’t always what they seem.
Suddenly the Cutters must face the unthinkable: that a murderer isn’t just stalking too close to home but is inside it already. For the Langleys weren’t the first to die and they won’t be the last

Review: 5 Stars

A great read! The more I read, the more I knew why the Langley’s were murdered…but the characters’ journey there was so worth the wait.A great read!

One secret, one wrong choice, one mistake and you could create a set of events that could destroy lives.

Highlight for spoilers (((Seriously crazy that Jim’s past, a past where he thought he did the right thing, caused such a violent future. Sad that Ellen’s secret destroyed families. Sickening that Chance was so evil and selfish. Derek’s actions almost got him killed. Albert Langley, a pathetic man, but typical politician. Makes you think about each decision you make, will it come back to haunt you in the future.)))

Goodreads Summary: Beautiful Day

The Carmichaels and Grahams have gathered on Nantucket for a wedding. Plans are being made according to the wishes of the bride’s late mother, who left behind The Notebook: specific instructions for every detail of her youngest daughter’s future nuptials. Everything should be falling into place for the beautiful event–but in reality, things are far from perfect.

While the couple-to-be are quite happy, their loved ones find their own lives crumbling. In the days leading up to the wedding, love will be questioned, scandals will arise, and hearts will be broken and healed. Elin Hilderbrand takes readers on a touching journey in BEAUTIFUL DAY–into the heart of marriage, what it means to be faithful, and how we choose to honor our commitments.

I can’t wait to see what situations arise and how it will be handled and all fall into place.

Through audible  I’m reading No Second Chance. It’s a night mare to wake up and have your family gone. I wonder if they are going to pin it on him. I LOVE listening to books rather than music…really keeps me focused.

From Harlan Coben, author of back-to-back New York Times best-sellers Tell No One and Gone for Good, comes his most accomplished and electrifying work to date. The novelist who “serves up everything you could ask for in a can’t-put-it-down book . . . rocket-fast pace with solid emotional underpinning” (San Francisco Chronicle) returns with a thriller of explosive tension and breathless psychological suspense. No Second Chance is a breakneck ride where nothing is what it seems–and where hope and fear collide in the most surprising ways. Both a white-knuckle thriller and a story about the loyalty of old friends and the love of a father, No Second Chance is another masterpiece from an author who writes “suspense at its finest” (Jeffrey Deaver). PRAISE FOR HARLEN COBEN AND Gone for Good: “A killer thriller with more twists and turns than an amusement park ride. . . . Gone for Good is great.” –USA Today. “Coben stands on the accelerator and never lets up . . . riveting.” –People (PAGE-TURNER OF THE WEEK)

  1. Sounds good!! I’m {finally} reading Memoirs of a Geisha, and The Hundred Year Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared. I’m enjoying the time travel between the two books. 🙂
I’ve joined a book club Page Turners, have you heard of this book club? It’s a blogger book club. This month they’re reading Eat, Pray, Love.
    XOXO

  2. I just finished “Orphan Train” which I thought was a very sweet book. And I learned about something I had never heard of before, which I always love. A friend of mine just did a press event with Elin Hildebrand – too fun!

  3. I keep meaning to look into more audiobooks, but we’re trying to seriously cut our expenses. Looks like it’s time to make a trip to our local library! Thanks for the reviews.

  4. I’m going to have to add Too Close To Home to my Goodreads list. It sounds really good. I just finished reading Orphan Train and really enjoyed it. Have a great weekend! Visiting from SITS.
