STILL READING…..

Goodreads Summary: Life After Life

On a cold and snowy night in 1910, Ursula Todd is born, the third child of a wealthy English banker and his wife. Sadly, she dies before she can draw her first breath. On that same cold and snowy night, Ursula Todd is born, lets out a lusty wail, and embarks upon a life that will be, to say the least, unusual. For as she grows, she also dies, repeatedly, in any number of ways. Clearly history (and Kate Atkinson) have plans for her: In Ursula rests nothing less than the fate of civilization.

Wildly inventive, darkly comic, startlingly poignant — this is Kate Atkinson at her absolute best, playing with time and history, telling a story that is breathtaking for both its audacity and its endless satisfactions.

At first I was so confused, but as it progresses it all makes sense. Imagine being able to do it all over, imagine righting the wrongs or correcting mistakes. Would that be a blessing or a curse?

Now my biggest questions are Why? Why her? How many times will it happen? What is the goal? Looking forward to finding out the answers.

Goodreads Summary: The Night Circus

The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called “Le Cirque des Reves,” and it is only open at night.

But behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway–a duel between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors. Unbeknownst to them, this is a game in which only one can be left standing, and the circus is but the stage for a remarkable battle of imagination and will. Despite themselves, however, Celia and Marco tumble headfirst into love – a deep, magical love that makes the lights flicker and the room grow warm whenever they so much as brush hands.

True love or not, the game must play out, and the fates of everyone involved, from the cast of extraordinary circus per-formers to the patrons, hang in the balance, suspended as precariously as the daring acrobats overhead.

Sounds like a captivating story, can’t wait to start reading.

Just Finished Reading… — 12 Comments

  1. Everyone tells me life after life is so good, I started it once but then got caught up in other things. I will have to go back to it. I will say that I LOVED night circus.. it is a GREAT book! Gld to connect through the monday mommy blog hop!

  2. So, I have to admit that even the Goodreads description of Life After Life was confusing, so I can only imagine how the book must have been. Have you ever seen the movie Sliding Doors? It sounds like a similar premise…maybe?

  3. I haven’t read either of these bit hear they are really good! I’m reading Hello from the Gillespies and the Last Breath. I just finished the Wife, the Maid and the Mistress

Would love to read your thoughts
