Goodreads Summary: Lying With Strangers

Peyton Shields had always wanted to be a doctor, and now, thanks to her relentless drive, stellar academic credentials, and a mountain of debt to Harvard Medical School, she’s a first-year resident at a major Boston children’s hospital. The hours are impossibly long but it’s the life she wants, complete with a husband who’s an up-and-coming young lawyer.

But a late-night drive home in a heavy snowstorm changes everything. A car coming straight at her drives her off the road and into a frozen pond. Peyton knows she’d be dead if a stranger hadn’t pulled her from the wreckage before vanishing into the darkness. In an instant her wonderful life has turned dark. No one believes her claims that the “accident” was deliberate—not even her husband. Without explanation, he has become distant and bitter, calling her paranoid and accusing her of having an affair with a former lover.

Yet the terror has only begun, for a series of strange, increasingly dangerous events begin to plague Peyton, moving her closer to a faceless and very deadly enemy who seems to know her every move.

4 Stars

I really hope if I ever say I’m innocent, my family believes me. The horror of not being trusted is too much to comprehend. What a great read, you get caught up in the panic of not being trusted and thought of as guilty. Though at times I was getting annoyed and wishing it would end already.

The whole time I wanted to junk punch Kevin for not believing Peyton, when he was the one who was unfaithful and making excuses for it.

OMG…I did not think it was that person…just couldn’t believe that person would be that evil, selfish and twisted, but should have known. WOW! The whole time I had a different person as a suspect, though I wasn’t far off.

SPOILERS…highlight to see the spoilers.

(((Dude it was the f^cking mom….seriously her own mother. I should have known with all her horrendous comments about making am mistake of being a mom. Of course the second kid was given up for adoption, of course the mom was too selfish to be a mom again…but to pretend to by your  daughter online and not say anything when the guy tries to kill her and her husband. So glad the dad is divorcing her sorry @ss. Hope she spends the rest of her life alone, just like she wanted.)))

Goodreads Summary: The Hypnotist’s Love Story

Ellen O’Farrell is a professional hypnotherapist who works out of the eccentric beachfront home she inherited from her grandparents. It’s a nice life, except for her tumultuous relationship history. She’s stoic about it, but at this point, Ellen wouldn’t mind a lasting one. When she meets Patrick, she’s optimistic. He’s attractive, single, employed, and best of all, he seems to like her back. Then comes the dreaded moment: He thinks they should have a talk. It turns out that Patrick’s ex-girlfriend is stalking him, and Ellen is intrigued by the woman’s motives. She wants to meet her, but doesn’t know that she already has. –Publisher description.

OMG…the summary gave me chills. Wonder what will happen.

Just Finished Reading… — 9 Comments

  1. Lying with Strangers sounds like a good book. I am still reading Yes Please (it’s taking me a while) and just bought Girl on a Train to read when I am finished.

  2. Lying with Strangers sounds intriguing.

It always bothers me so much when characters in books or movies don’t believe the main characters’ claims or issues they are having. But then again when it is revealed that they weren’t crazy this entire time and it was really happening-there is a wonderful feeling of acceptance and vindication.

    • yes…this is what killed me the whole time, no believed her. Though I don’t think I could just be okay with it, I’d have to get my own revenge for not believe me!!!!!

Would love to read your thoughts
