 ~~~Just Finished Reading~~~
Goodreads Summary: 14 (Audible book)
Goodreads Summary: Anybody Out There? (CD rental from library)
Marian Keyes has introduced readers to the lives, loves, and foibles of the five Walsh sisters. In this funny, heartbreaking, and triumphant new tale set in the Big Apple, it’s Anna’s turn in the spotlight.
Life is perfect for Anna Walsh. She has the “Best Job in the World” as a PR exec for a top-selling urban beauty brand, a lovely apartment in New York, and a perfect husband — the love of her life, Aidan Maddox. Until the morning she wakes up in her mammy’s living room in Dublin with her face in stitches, a dislocated knee, and completely smashed-up hands — and no memory of how she got there. While her mammy plays nursemaid, Anna tries to get better and keeps wondering why Aidan won’t return her phone calls or emails.
Recuperating from her injuries, a mystified Anna returns to Manhattan. Slowly beginning to remember what happened, she sets off on a search to find Aidan — a hilarious quest involving lilies (she can’t stop smelling them), psychics, mediums, and anyone there who can promise her a reunion with her beloved…
Written in her classic style, marrying the darker parts of life with humor and wit, Anybody Out There? is Marian Keyes’ best novel to date, wonderfully charming look at love here and ever after.
My Review – 5 stars
YOU WILL NEED A BIG BOX OF TISSUES WHEN YOU READ THIS BOOK! Even though this is #4 in the series it was recommended to me to as a read alone book.
I guessed part of the ending immediately, I just knew it..
I laughed, cried, threatened to beat us some characters, and prayed for Anna to have her happy ending. She isn’t better or worse, just different now and that’s okay.
I never liked or trusted Janie. Maybe it was just by accident, but I still don’t trust her.
Highlight for spoilers… (((I knew the little boy in Leisel’s psychic visions was Aiden’s baby. I I KNEW that he had gotten Janie pregnant. So not fair that Janie gets his son and poor Anna gets nothing. I know she has closure…and boy that closure made me sob. I had to pull my car over from crying so damn hard.
I’m happy that her life is getting better, she is standing up for herself and learning how to be self sufficient. Yay to her finding love and having a choice. I pray she has another happy marriage and kids. I think this time she will want kids right away, she now knows to live life to the fullest.)))
Goodreads Summary: Heartburn (CD rental from library)
Is it possible to write a sidesplitting novel about the breakup of the perfect marriage? If the writer is Nora Ephron, the answer is a resounding yes. For in this inspired confection of adultery, revenge, group therapy, and pot roast, the creator of Sleepless in Seattle reminds us that comedy depends on anguish as surely as a proper gravy depends on flour and butter.
Seven months into her pregnancy, Rachel Samstat discovers that her husband, Mark, is in love with another woman. The fact that the other woman has “a neck as long as an arm and a nose as long as a thumb and you should see her legs” is no consolation. Food sometimes is, though, since Rachel writes cookbooks for a living. And in between trying to win Mark back and loudly wishing him dead, Ephron’s irrepressible heroine offers some of her favorite recipes. Heartburn is a sinfully delicious novel, as soul-satisfying as mashed potatoes and as airy as a perfect soufflé.
Think I’m going to thoroughly enjoy this book! Praying she gets to junk punch her husband a few times though.
