When Dinosaur Gets Mad

Hi everyone, Dino here. I will be combining my story with the Kid Lit Blog Hop

Mommy finally organized my books, but she said we need a bigger book shelf. That makes me happy, because I LOVE books! I now have a spot for all my dinosaur books, magazines, books about people, and books about animals. Mommy says when I get a bigger book shelf I can organize for books. I can’t wait.

2-5-4One of the books I LOVE to read is How Do Dinosaurs Say I’m Mad?. Sometimes I get really mad too and do bad things, but I don’t mean them. I feel really bad about what I did. Mommy says it’s okay to feel mad, but not okay to do mean things.

Sometimes I get really mad when Mommy or Daddy says “No” or tell me what to do. I know they are trying to keep me safe, but I don’t like it sometimes. What makes you mad? Do you feel bad after you get mad?

Letter G and Fall Fun

Found this cute activity Fall Leaf Puppets I tried it with Dinosaur…but I used leaf print outs, colored them in, cut them out and glued them back to front on half pipe cleaners. He did NOT want me to put the pipe cleaners on them for arms.

More fun fall cafts can be found at FamilyFun and AllKidsNetwork

Then we tried to do some leaf drawings…but he wanted NONE of that…So I did. I was my art therapy…it was lovely.

Then my mom called with a great idea…fall leaf chain. How great is that. So I cut construction paper into four strips. Dinosaur loved picking the colors, rubbing on the glue, and helping me shape the circle and press the ends together.  He was so proud of the fall chain and how it was taller than his.

He demanded that we hang it over his door, such a proud Dinosaur.

I created a wonderful PowerPoint on the letter G with a matching game at the end.

g words

I took our alphabet cards from schoolzone and put out letters we have learned. There are several games I play, but only give him six cards at a time.

  • find big A, little e
  • where is the alligator, doll, fish, etc…
  • Find the matching pairs, Big C and little c, big F and little f
  • what two words start with “a” or “g” (show the pictures not the words)

F is for Failure

I did NOT do as much with F as I wanted to…I feel so bad for my son. Though don’t worry…I don’t REALLY feel like a failure, we did so many other wonderful things with Dinosaur this week. In addition to that, I will hopefully have good news in a week or two.

On Friday Dinosaur found the letter A, Dinosaur took one of daddy’s mini football helmets and pulled out the stuffing and proudly said, “I found letter A”.  Of course it was an upside down V, but at least he is on the right track. I was so proud of him.

So anyway, I am going to make up for it and be super Dinosaur Teacher for the letter G and fall colors this week. I will post all about them next Monday.

When have you all felt like you let down your kid(s)…but it all worked out or really wasn’t a big deal to them.

So, here are some letter F activities I found while searching around…try them out.

Fall Theme and the Letter “E”

Last week son’s daycare was focusing on the letter “E” and Fall. I created an “E” words PowerPoint, check my wiki space for more information on ordering PowerPoints. Below are some great resources I found on the internet, go check them out and try them with your kids.

Dinosaur LOVES the PowerPoint and creating the board to go along with the game.

Fire Safety and the Letter “D”

At school each week they are focusing on a theme and a letter. This past week it was fire safety and the letter “D”. I did some searching and found printables and activities that could work with Dinosaur.

Small area for displaying each week’s themes and focusing on our lessons.

Fire Safety Activities and Printables

fire truck craft son loved doing this, I colored it then cut it out. We worked together to create the firetruck.

printable phone 911 we go over this almost every morning.

fire fighter hat color matching game I didn’t do this with son, but will save it just in case.

firefighter son loved dressing the firefighter up. In hindsight, I should have printed out the female version. I will have to remember than for next time.

toilet paper craft  this was a blast for son to do

Dinosaur proudly showing off the firefighters he made.

Create escape plan with pics and place to wait. We had a lot of fun crawling to the door and windows from every room in the house. I made sure Anthony knew to get in front of me, so I could always see him. Then I tied a sheet onto his waste if he had to crawl behind me.

D for dinosaur

letter d worksheet though not sure why there is an answer key, LOL

saying D words aloud

I also drew a large letter D and had Dinosaur paste images and pictures that began with the letter D. He had fun telling me where to put each picture on the letter D and pointing to the pictures each morning saying their names aloud.

Letter D PowerPoint lesson – I created a lesson where Dinosaur can click the buttons on my laptop and control the lesson. With each click of the button the picture appears to which he proudly says the word, another click makes the word appear, a final click plays the recording of us saying the word.

I uploaded the PDF of the presentation to my wiki space. Doing what I do best, I am going to create a lesson for each letter as the school year progresses. I will make the original presentation and a customized presentation available for a small fee. This sudden idea came to me as I was creating my son’s lessons and I decided to put my talent and ten plus years of teaching to good use.

I have a letter page and a theme page on my wiki space, go check it out and let me know what you think.
