What to Post?

So over the months I posted different things on Mondays. I started with Mommy’s Savings but changed to pricing out my meals on Tuesdays. Then I posted lessons with Dinosaur, but when I started my part time job I had little time to do create and post lessons.

My schedule is Tuesday-Dino Approved meals, Wednesday-Life with a Dinosaur, Thursday-Small Spaces and organization, Friday-Friday Fun, Saturday-Dinosaur’s Story, Sunday-Sensational Sundays.

Then I stumbled on to the NaBloPoMo Writing Prompts. While I will not be taking part in the challenge since I have my own posting schedule, I will use the prompts for Mondays. I looked back at other months and loved the prompts….perhaps I can add more prompts if applicable for what I am posting. You should check it out, you might like it.

Where is your favorite place to blog?

Now that I have a laptop, I happily sit on the couch with the laptop on my lap. Or I sometimes sit on my floor with the laptop on the small ottoman.

I find it quite comfy and cozy in my living room. Sure sometimes I forget to move and my legs fall asleep, but it’s all worth it for blogging, right?

I can keep my mug of tea on the couch, that is when Dinosaur is not around and Balboa is sleeping. Otherwise it would be on the floor, but during a quiet moment like this…I am focused and happy to blog and drink tea.

I’m back

It seems likes ages since I have posted…so many things have happened. So gather up near my cozy and warm fireplace while I tell you all that has happened.

1. I started my new job and had to get used to that new schedule and find time for work and blogging while still being a mom. I have been a stay at home mom, working mom, and part time working mom…all are so difficulty. I know there will always be arguments about who has it harder/easier…I can tell you that THEY ARE ALL HARD…but rewarding.

2. My second week of work and Hurricane Sandy hit and destroyed so many families and lives. We temporarily lost power and had to stay with my SIL and then my parents, but were VERY LUCKY that our home and and family/friends are all okay.

3. Of course then I get sick. With prior issues of bronchitis, chest infections and pneumonia my cold hits hard and fast. In fact I was so sick that I didn’t even want to open the computer. Tony always says he can tell when I am REALLY sick or tired…I don’t touch my laptop.

4. On Saturday we had to put new tires on my car, while we waited we had brunch at a diner. I don’t remember what I even ate I was so sick. When we finally got back home I fell on the couch and the rest of the day was a blur.

5. Dinosaur woke up at 4:45 on Sunday morning. I HATE FALL DAYLIGHT SAVINGS…HATE IT! Add that to my being sick and I felt like death.

6.On Sunday hubby took son to his parent’s house to give me a day to rest and boy did that HELP. I really needed that and by the end of the night I felt like a human again.

7. As I got ready for work Sunday night, I couldn’t find my keys. We have come to the conclusion, that in my deranged state of sickness on Saturday, I have no idea where I put my car/house keys. We looked everywhere, including the garbage. There is not one inch of apt I have not searched. We even bribed son with M&Ms to see if he put them somewhere.

8. Monday morning, as I got ready for work, I spotted a mouse…I almost flipped out. The funny thing is that our French Bulldog, Balboa was originally bred to hunt down mice…what does our dog hunt down???? Leaves and ants…But I still love him.

9. Monday afternoon/evening hubby and I checked the apt again, every flipping inch of it for my keys and put out a bunch of mouse traps.  We even bribed son with M&Ms AGAIN. While I was feeling better Monday, I was so exhausted from all that was going on, that I just collapsed on the couch. I couldn’t sleep though, not with knowledge that mice were in my house. I am happy to say that the problem is over for now…but we have to make sure they don’t get back in.

Despite all that went on, I am thankful for a husband that is willing to load the basement up with traps and throw out filled traps. I am thankful to have a son that easily gets back into a routine after a few days. I am thankful to have a dog who may not hunt mice, but also doesn’t try to get the traps. I am thankful to have a hubby that will take our son out to let me rest. While I may get annoyed with him, he knows that I do a lot for our family and he knows when I NEED a break.

So here we are now, Wednesday afternoon and I am feeling better and on the computer again. What did I miss? How are all of you?

Fun with Grandma and Grandpa

Today is Part 2 of Dinosaur and his Grandparents.Yesterday I posted about Dinosaur’s adventures with my parents.

Hubby’s parents, Grandma Lorraine and Grandpa Tony came up for the day and we had a nice bbq for lunch and pasta for dinner. But, Dinosaur was really testing his limits today, talking back to me and not following rules he knows he HAS to follow. I am sure he was thrilled to see his “Ganma” and “Ganpa”, but Mommy is in charge, NOT Dinosaur.

Like many of you have mentioned about your hubby’s, my hubby does not read my blog. He says he does not have the time and is convinced that I bad-mouth him. Little does he know that’s what twitter is for, LOL. In all seriousness, I wish he would show a little interest in my blog or not belittle my writing. Of course, he was probably mad at me for nagging him today. He FINALLY sprayed a bees nest right at the corner of our basement door, which is in the ground. But…he sprayed it during the day and the bees were on a war path, making it impossible to enjoy lunch and dinner outside.I try to be a nice and understanding wife, but he makes it so hard when he doesn’t listen and does this without thinking. How do all of you deal with hubby’s that don’t listen, do it their way, then mess things up?

Hubby singing silly songs about me to make me mad, GRRRRRR

Dinosaur with his Grandma Lorraine and Grandpa Tony.

While Dinosaur is NOT their first grandchild or grandson, he is loved deeply and very much wanted. Dinosaur has two older male cousins and a younger female cousin. Tony and Lorraine were over-joyed when we told them we were pregnant, it was a celebration a long time coming. Dinosaur sure has made up for the long wait with his energy and personality.

Being only three yeas old he is having a hard time understanding that daddy and Grandpa Tony are also Anthony’s. He calls them silly and says daddy is “daddy” and Grandpa Tony is “Ganda”

Dinosaur eating with Grandma, but making her a little nervous. Dinosaur has proved at an early age to take HUGE DINOSAUR BITES and be just fine. Grandma gets nervous with his monstrous bites. Sure I have had a few scares, which have turned out just fine, but he’s a dinosaur and dinosaur’s take BIG
bites of food.

Balboa waiting for food, because we don’t feed him (I’m being sarcastic, he’s holding out for human food. He is so spoiled.) He was our baby when I didn’t think I would ever become a mommy. Balboa has a special place in my heart and always will.

Fun with LaLa and PopPop

This is the second Monday I have NOT posted about saving money. I will get back to that starting next week. I have been saving, just forgetting to keep the receipts and take pictures. I really like to stick to my schedule. Do most of you have a blogging schedule? Or do you just post what you want?

Dinosaur is lucky to have still have two sets of grandparents.  He is making wonderful memories and getting lots of love. LaLa and PopPop are my parents; and Dinosaur is there only grandchild, so he is spoiled with lots of love. Dinosaur got to spend two days with his LaLa and PopPop. My father wanted to be called PopPop, and LaLa was called that by her niece and nephew and it just stuck when they had their kids. So when Dino was born, it was only natural that she was his LaLa too.

On Saturday we went to Sillverman’s Farm in Easton Connecticut. It’s a great little orchard and farm, but there were too many bees; so eating outside was NOT fun. Any suggestions on products that block bees so we can eat outside and enjoy the nice weather? They have a HUGE playground area with an awesome maze.

Being an only child, dinosaur got attention from four adults while running around and playing. He truly is a lucky guy to have so many loving people in his life. What more could ANY kid wish for?

Though he worried me a bit, seems like he has a preference for blond girls. He was following around three of them on the playground!!! The girl he he clings to at daycare is also blond. Already three and he has his preferences, I’m in trouble. Though I never really talk to him about girls, I usually just say when you grow up, get married and have kids. I don’t want him to feel like we won’t accept him and want him to know that no matter who he loves; we will always love him. Maybe I’m crazy to think about this when he is only thee but I want him to know and my vocabulary to be consistent. After getting stickers on our car symbolizing our family, he is always repeating the members of our family. I tell him that some families have one mom, or one dad, or two moms or dads, or aunts and uncles, or grandparents. As long as you are loved, that’s your family.

Okay, now back to the post at hand, I sometimes get sidetracked with my thoughts.

One of the many cool trucks in the playground area.

On Sunday we spent the day at their house. Hubby had to umpire two games near their house, so it made sense to spend the day there. pent all day there. Dinosaur loves it there, because LaLa and PopPop have designated their back room to Dinosaur. He walks around like the big man on campus. He loves to sit at the back table, play with his cars, and eat his food.

Dinosaur telling to hurry up and take the picture, my bossy little man.

My mother didn’t want her picture taken, she’s so silly. My dad was being funny and was pretending to flex his muscles.

Tomorrow I will post about Dinosaur’s day with Grandpa Tony and Grandma Lorraine (hubby’s parents).

Preschool Schedule

Normally I post how I saved money this week, but I didn’t do so great. The local supermarket I go to for meat and produce has let me down again. I bought meat and pizza dough and after two days in the freezer the meat was rancid. After two days in the fridge, the pizza dough smelled horrific.  I have seen and complained about expired products on shelves, products not refilled for two months, and produce that never lasts as long as it should.

I have decided to use the same supermarket in the next town and it is much better. You would think the supermarket in a well-to-do town would do a better job, but they don’t.

Anyway, now onto my post for today; I was thinking that I need a schedule for when Dinosaur is home with me. Even if we don’t follow it to the minute, at least he knows the routine. Do you SAHM and WAHM moms have a schedule? How detailed do you make it?

This is what I created? Am I too ambitious, or as an educator am I right on the money? I have to edit the weekends and the days he attends day care. It’s a work in progress as I see how he reacts to the schedule.

anthony-schedule

Since I can’t find work, my parents are paying for Dinosaur to attend daycare three days a week, from nine to three.  Starting next week, we will only send him two days a week till four pm. With a strict schedule, I should be able to keep him busy, not to mention library events and trips. The weekends will be busy with family activities; I will make a point of it.
