I am now squatting 95 pounds! That’s right, 95 pounds.

I can wide squat 85 pounds.

And closed leg squat 65 pounds 

I can do 30 burpees with ease!

Why lower weight with closed-leg squats???? I started that weighted squat later than the regular squat and you have to squat down pretty low…which really works your butt.

I haven’t measured insured in a while, but I’ll wait till the end of the summer for bigger/better results.

My personal trainer, who I love, said I am getting stronger, have more endurance, and of course cracks up with me while I work out.

Guess who thought she was squatting 50 lbs…but was really…

squatting 85 lbs?

ME!

I was adding wrong and was squatting more than I thought. I was so thrilled to know I was stronger than I thought.

I’ve started dead lifting 40 lbs…but plan on stepping that up. My personal trainer showed me how to add weights to the barbell and use a clip to keep them from slipping off.

The best part about getting stronger, is not only feeling better and looking better, but feeling powerful.

Last week I showed you how I squat with Dino on my back and walk around with him. Now I can walk around with him on my shoulders…I feel so powerful.

This weekend, I am going with my friend to buy new bras, since my old ones obviously are swimming on me. It’s going to be such a great feeling seeing more results of strength training.

Instead of the numbers on the scale, how do you know you are getting fit?

So frustrating…I’ve been sick and missed one training session. The next session I went, but wasn’t up to my full self. I haven’t been to the gym as much as I wanted.

Though I didn’t gain. Why? Continuing to eat healthy I kept my muscles and kept the inches off. I loaded up on healthy protein, healthy fats, fruits, and vegetables. Eating good and REAL food makes all the difference.

This morning, I am going back to the gym and staying on my routine…no matter what.

At home I did what I could. I walked around with Dino on my back and did squats, lunges, and push ups with him on my back. I rolled him up in a blanket used him as my personal weight for dead lifts…whatever works, right?

I recently climbed up 70 flights of stairs using the stair master…pretty darn amazing, right????

My personal trainer kicked my butt, or rather I should say arms. She introduced me to ‘Twenty-ones’ and they are evil. Basically twenty-ones are 7 half reverse bicep curls, 7 half bicep curls, 7 full bicep curls…you repeat three times. The key is to use a smaller weight…because you are doing 21 curls…it’s a killer…I know my muscles are growing, but they hurt for two and half days…LOL

I decided that I want to do the triathlon next May. I CAN DO IT. I WILL DO IT.

I am so motivated to participate in the triathlon. A mother at the Little Gym where Dino had sports skills commented on how good I look and said she did the triathlon. She is a tiny woman and she did…she smiled at me and said “Strong is the new skinny.” I almost jumped on her with joy.

Then my friend’s sister participated in the triathlon for two years with her husband. She gave me some great tips and ideas. I am so motivated.

I told Tony and he said he and Dino would be waiting at the finish line for me…that right there just motivated me even more. I have a whole year to prepare.

Yesterday I wrote about how I am getting ready for beach season for a FTSF post. You can read that here.

I recently climbed up 50 flights of stairs using the stair master…pretty darn amazing, right????

I can lift Dino up with little effort…which he just loves for me to do over and over.

I rocked it on the treadmill, which I normally don’t like because there is no muscle gain, so I inclined it 80%…all because of my muscles. muscles = endurance and strength.

I signed up with a personal trainer for one 1x a week. She showed me how to correctly do dead lifts and power squats. I did better than I realized.

~~~NEW WARDROBE~~~

My friend Kit is amazing. We went shopping and she taught me what I should be wearing to show off my toned body. I swear she should do this for money. I tried to get her to start a website, but she insists she does it for love and fun. Seriously, she got me to wear black! I haven’t worn black in years and here I am with black capris, shirts, and sandals… She is that amazing.

Imagine having a person help you shop for work clothes, update a wardrobe, or dress for a night out or a wedding. Shew needs to get paid, she needs to network…How can I convince her to get started?

I love going to the gym and getting a nice workout. I walked 21 flights of stairs on the step master at the highest resistance. GO ME!

I can do more squats and lunges with my kettle bell and find that when I dance I don’t need that many breaks. Yeah, I can shake it up and keep going.

I CAN NOW DO 10 KNEE PUSH UPS WITH DINO ON MY BACK

I did two sets of 10 REGULAR push ups

To me that shows great improvement. 

Dino loves when I use him to exercise. He gets such a kick out of being lifted up and down and laying on my back. He proudly says, “My mommy is getting stronger.” That is such an amazing statement, strong is powerful, strong is beautiful, strong is important.

I have plans to go clothes shopping with my friend, since nothing really fits me. While I rather shop at Dress Barn, I don’t have the money. It will be more convenient to use my Kohl’s card and just pay it off with the next two paychecks. I hope I CAN find a few pieces that will be cool in the summer yet professional enough for work. I’m think a bunch of summer skirts and tops and one or two pants/capris.

Getting Healthier and Stronger for my son

I LOVE my 20lb kettle bell, it is definitely going to build major muscle. I NEED to get to a gym and work on machines though…perhaps if I can save some money and find some time. Time and money…why are you always causing me problems? 

I want to be healthier and stronger for Dino. I want to be able to carry him around for longer periods. He cried the other day that I don’t pick him and carry him around anymore. My heart broke. So when he sees me exercising I tell him I want to be stronger to carry him around. He may be growing up, but he still wants to be my little boy.

I recently put on a pair of size 16 pants and was shocked they fit. Now I know sizes of pants are all different, but these were pants I haven’t worn since before Dino was born. I tried on some dresses I have…WOW…I can’t wait to start wearing them.

I still have lots of jiggly flab…but when I flex it’s almost impossible to pull at the fat. (except my arm…but the flab decreases when I flex) That all has to be a good sign, right?  

I even got my first compliment at work…someone noticed how thin I look. When they asked if I was dieting, I replied that I am eating healthy and strength training. Strong is the new skinny.

Those calves are all muscle!!!! Aren’t they amazing?  My upper legs are mostly muscle, my thighs and butt are getting more muscular. My biceps are growing even bigger and my triceps are SLOWLY growing. 

Sorry about the vacuum and dog bone in the background. I had to take a selfie and Dino was asking a million questions about Jurassic Park…as if he’s never seen it before.

1. I can now do three sets of 10 push ups (on my knees). For me that is big, since when I started three was the most I could do. I WANT TO DO 5 push ups on my toes.

Getting Healthier and Stronger For My Son

Though I gained this week, I lost more inches and KNOW I am gaining muscle. While weight watchers was a great start, if I don’t lose weight, I am not really succeeding with them. In order to be successful with them I have to be reach my goal weight, be skinny, and non-muscular instead of focusing on inches, being muscular and healthy. I did all the research and know that muscle weighs MORE than fat, but takes up less space. So I could not reach my “weight” goal but look better then I ever did if I continue with cardio/strength training.

My sister gave me a kettle bell of 8lbs, but I need heavier weights now and bought a 20lb kettle bell on Amazon to be delivered soon. I know I will get in even better shape now with the new one.

My recently tailored pants are swimming on me again.

I walked across a parking lot, up two flights of stairs and, down a long hallway carrying a large bag with laptop and two water bottles, a lunch bag, and my purse and didn’t fall down out of breath. Sure my I had to take a few bigger breaths, but I did it and didn’t need to sit down.

I want to be healthier and stronger for Dino. I don’t want to watch him live life, I want to live it with him. I want to run, jump, skip, and go wild with him. I want to be around for a long time.

I don’t have a better picture of me pre-getting healthier…so I used the one from Christmas. The pic on the right is a week ago. It’s out of focus (courtesy of Hubby) but shows a big difference…better pictures to come.
